When and how to water orchids are questions most frequently asked by first-time buyers,and watering is always the most difficult aspect of culture about which to offer advice.More plants are killed by drowning than any other single cause.
As far as water quality is concerned,orchids can generally be watered safely with ordinary tap water.However,never use water that has been through an artificial softener.

When and how to water orchids?


Orchids cannot live entirely on fresh air,and like other plants need moderate amounts of food in order to thrive.In the wild,much of this is provided in the form of gases given off by the decaying matter on the forest floor below-a method that has been adapted successfully by some growers of monopodial orchids in tropical and equatorial regions.
