Why are leaves chained?

Why are leaves chained?

Why are leaves chained?
The problem occurs primarily in Miltonias and hybrids with Odontoglossums and Oncidiums. These families are vulnerable to the uneven substrate humidity and it reacted with the active and slows down the growth of leaves and stems. If you leave the substrate too long dry, after swamping growth quickly resumed. Leaves and arteries do not grow more evenly and be 'captured' in the older leaves, which they embrace. Young leaves, therefore, became chained and remains deformed.
