Setting Orchids

Purchased plants need to adapt to new conditions. Often it happens that orchids (especially Phalenopsis) flourish quickly or very quickly lose the flower and not develop buds. This is due to the violent change in breeding. Orchids are grown in the purchase of greenhouses, and subsequently transported and some time behind the flower shop almost no light. Then the plants become very sensitive to light. From March until the end of September, this may mean the death of the plant.
For most species, the most appropriate is east or west window shelf. For species Cattleya, Vanda, Dendrobium and Cymbidium, the appropriate policy is to the south window, while the northern location is not recommended because of the lack of light, especially in winter. Phalaenopsis, Paphiopedilum, Ludisia grow better in a bright room, but not in direct sunlight.
For many species of orchids, it is useful to be placed during the summer on the balcony or terrace, but only when we are sure that the night temperature does not damage the flowers. In early autumn they put back in place. Fresh air is strengthen orchids and has a beneficial effect on their flowering. Specifically, it is very useful for the Cymbidium, Zygopetalum, Nobile Dendrobium, Cattleya.
Orchids can be successfully placed in the basement, if we where ensure them the artificial light, heat and adequate ventilation.
